The brief for the Oakura Sewer Pump Station was for an exciting design to house the above ground works, robust yet attractive in style. design concept was for a thin roof to appear to float over a solid plinth. Main walls (plinth) are polished black and off the form cream masonry mitred in the corners to a strict 400mm module. The roof is separated from the plinth by a band of black back-painted glass to provide a strong contrast and be easy to clean and maintain.
