I have been involved in the building industry since 1993, owning my own design practice since 2002. Prior to starting his practice I worked for an Architect whose main client was a multi-national company. The role included the design, 3D visualisation, documentation and project management of nearly 160 projects for this one client in the seven years I worked there.

With the formation of Imagine Building Design in 2002 (re-branded to Imagine Architecture in 2021) my skills evolved with a large amount of my work being new residential, civic facilities and accessible design. In addition to that work numerous commercial projects complete the portfolio.

I bring bring the necessary skills and experience to succeed in most building projects. In having a keen interest in architecture from a young age it is no surprise that I am passionate about quality design. I have a reputation of working hard for my clients to produce the best possible architectural solutions to meet their aesthetic, functional and budgetary requirements.

I am a Certified Passive House Designer. As a Certified Passive House Designer I am a professional skilled in designing buildings to meet the Passive House (Passivhaus) standard, emphasising extreme energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability. This certification, from the Passive House Institute (PHI), involves expertise in high-performance insulation, windows, airtight construction, and ventilation systems. Certified designers significantly reduce a building's energy use and environmental impact while ensuring superior indoor comfort and air quality. Achieving this certification requires passing a rigorous exam, validating the designer's proficiency in creating buildings that can save up to 90% of energy compared to conventional structures.
I am a Professional Member of ADNZ and served as a Director on the ADNZ National Board 2011-2018, serving as Chair for three years from 2014. I was an active contributor in the board meetings. I have been involved in many Policy reviews and recommendations. As Chair I was responsible in leading the Board in all matters of governance and strategic direction. That role saw me chairing at least eight board meetings per annum along with teleconferences. I worked closely with the CEO in providing strategic direction and support from a governance point of view.
Since 2006 I have contributed as a speaker at seminars on various architectural design and business development subjects. The highlight being the opportunity to share the stage with world renowned Architectural couple Lindsay & Kerry Clare on a one-week Design to Inspire speaking tour throughout New Zealand in 2012. As Chair of ADNZ I regularly presented to members, sponsors, central government and other stakeholders.

Outside of architecture my life revolves around my partner Jackie, our children and Basil the Jack Russell Terrier. I am a keen cricketer and have played competitively since I was 8 years old. I currently play club cricket for Papamoa & Kaipaki Cricket Clubs. I have also competed in the NZ Masters cricket competition representing Taranaki achieving Gold and Silver medals in recent events.
“We love our house that Tony designed. We get so many positive comments from people about different features in the house. So, when we build again for ourselves we will give Tony a call.”
